New PostApril 18 - Yardwork=Very Sore

New Post

Ooof... I spent 4 1/2 hours raking the yard yesterday (which includes bagging the debris), then I cleaned house after I was done with that. The yard is half done. I can't do the backyard yet because son spread the crabgrass treatment, but anyway what is left is the whole fenced in area that I can do while out with turbo-tot.

But I overdid it. You see that is who I am at the core....I am one who will just go, go, go until what I intended to do is done.

My fifty year old body has changed...but in my mind I am still a twenty-something that can go, and go, and go. Thing is, I'm not. And I can't. When I do I pay. I pay big.

I don't know how long it's going to be before the core of who I am stops and listens to my half century old bod.

Things take longer now. The nickname I carried thirty years ago 'spaz', no longer fits. I cannot move with the speed I once did.

I have arthritis and sciatica, and something yet unknown with my right arms/elbow/shoulder that doesn't allow my right hand reach to even scratch my own ear. These are things that slow my down, and make my hurt when I overextend myself physically.

The thing is that mentally I can do it...my body just doesn't want to cooperate. Getting old sucks.
