New PostFebruary 9 - The Lost Oooch

New Post

I've lost my oooch. You know how you 'oooch' over in bed, how you 'oooch over on the couch to allow someone else to sit? Well I don't 'oooch' so easily anymore. As a matter of fact the act of 'oooching' is pretty much a memory.

It's just one more thing in the ever growing list of things lost as one ages. Granted we gain many things as we grow older, but most of those things are carried in our brains (when we can remember them), and our souls.

On the physical side of increasing age, things tend to go in the opposite direction.

For example - climbing.

As a short person I once was an expert climber and an expert at balancing on stuff when I had to climb. Now? Climbing isn't so easy. While it is something I still have to do, it is no longer done with ease, and is accompanied by sound effects. Mainly groans.

When I was younger I moved with such speed and flexibility that my nickname was 'Spaz'. I was tiny and in great shape. I could literally bend my body into a pretzel. When my son was conceived I weighed a mere 99 pounds. When he was born, as they were trying to do the epidural I was asked if I lifted weights because my back was so muscular.

And now...I can't even 'oooch'. And 'Spaz'? Oh she's gone. She's been replaced with 'Pokey'. Who groans. A lot.
