New PostJuly 3 - Underwater Video Tip

I can't take credit for this one... My son came up with it. Do you have an underwater camera that also shoots video? This tip can help you!

The problem I have with mine is that I have to shoot blind because I can't see the screen at all outside or underwater and there is no eyepiece to look through. So my first time around I went under, aimed and prayed.

The second time around I shot video of myself underwater by using my son's suggestion of tying the camera to a ladder rung. (Second step from the bottom) No easy feat since the underwater housing floats. I turned it on and then I used the plastic stretchy band from an old pair of broken goggles and tied it around the middle making sure that I wasn't blocking the lens with it, and hooked the loop of the wrist strap around the outside of the ladder rung, and then hit the record button and just let it go. And then made sure that I swam in the area where the camera was pointed. (You'll need to cut out the first portion of the first clip during editing to get rid of the whole turning on and tying thing.) This video came out a hundred times better.

Using what I used was hard since it wasn't easy to get it tied to stay. Next time I'm going to see if I can find a length of fabric elastic to use such as the kind used in the waistband of sweatpants or something. I'm thinking this will be easier to tie on to keep the camera in place.
