New PostMay 31 - Could It Be Summer?

New Post

Whew it's muggy. Not hot...actually it's rather cool temperature wise but the humidity is really up there. The AC's aren't in yet, but the glorious 24 foot X 4 feet deep 'quickset' pool that we and lil' sis split the cost on is up and is gradually filling. (It was on clearance on WalMart's website so we went for it)

New PostMay 30 - CF Card Recovery

New Post

Oooops! A couple of days ago I accidentally deleted some photos off my Compact Flash card while I was indending to upload them to the computer. I immediately got online to search for a free recovery program, found one, installed it, and then got back the photos that I had deleted. Whew!

Matter of fact the program proceeded to recover everything that I had deleted from the card, so I had to stop it, since I actually meant to clear the card after I had uploaded prior to my ooopsy moment.

I can't seem to find the one I downloaded now...it's called 'PC Inspector Smart Recovery'. But I know there are other free ones out there. So if you own a camera that takes any kind of media....cards, sticks, whatever...go and find one and have it on hand....just in case....

New PostMay 29 - More Crazy News

New Post

Old enough to know better? And if they are quite immature then maybe a more watchful parental eye is in order?

LEBANON, Maine (NBC) - Two teenage girls are in the hospital after being struck by a train, possibly while sunbathing on the tracks. Police officials in Lebanon, Maine said a freight train hit the girls late Wednesday morning.

Officials think the girls may have fallen asleep and didn't hear the train. The 13 year old is in critical condition and the 14 year old is reported to be in serious condition. Early reports indicate one girl lost a leg and the other may lose a foot. The train was going about 15 miles per hour and was pulling about 30 cars.

New PostMay 25 - Severe Weather

New Post

Wow all the tornadoes huh? Being a native New Englander that is something we don't worry much about. While it's not been unheard of for a twister to set down here, and at times during severe t-storms we have had warnings, it would be a rare thing to actually have happen.

Having seen some video footage on the news and on YouTube I cannot begin to imagine the horror of seeing one come at you, or knowing one of those things is going to hit. It must be terrifying beyond words. Give me a good old fashioned New England blizzard anytime, I am happy I do not live in tornado country.

New PostMay 24 - Auto Openers Are Evil

New Post

Automatic garage door openers... Luckily for me I don't often have the need to open the large garage doors...or I should say close them. Normally I can just go in the normal side door to get what I need. But when I do need to use the large doors..well....it's probably amusing to passers by.

New PostMay 23 - The Asshole In The Red Shirt

New Post

At Six Flags New England today... Sister, turbo-tot and I stopped for ice cream. Tall guy around 19-23 in red shirt gets in line behind us. I'm assuming that he was a chaperone for one of the many field trips that were there. Anyway...he's talking to a lady in front of us whom I assume was also a chaperone or teacher or whatever....

The guy cuts in front of us kind of leaning on the railing...we think nothing of it thinking he'll step back as the line moves. Nope. He moves on up and orders. And it pissed me off.

So I go up to him as he's paying and I say “Excuse me...it was very rude of you to cut in front of three people, one of them a three year old.” I would have added some choice words to that, but I don't do that in front of the kidlet, so I'll say it here....EFFIN' ASSHOLE.

New PostMay 21 - The State Of The World

New Post

What is it going to take to fix things, a world wide depression? Really...gas, oil, layoffs, soaring prices everywhere, construction spending way down, people losing their homes, global warming, war, lunatics crawling up from sewers everywhere.....where and when does it end?

The economy seems to be crumbling at an astronomical pace, and it seems the whole world is in a sad sad state....the likes of which I have never seen in my fifty years of life on planet Earth.

It's just too much to take in when you really sit and think about it all. I just want to crawl inside my camera and find beauty, at least I can control the world for that split second when I click the shutter.

New PostMay 20 - Still Brrrrr

New Post

The freakin' heat is still on. It's been only in the low sixties. On this the twentieth day of May it was only sixty one degrees. Last year at this time we were already running AC, wearing shorts and into the water...

New PostMay 17 - Bring It Back!

New Post

Oh why must they tease? A little less than a year ago I bought THE most delicious ice cream that I have ever tasted. It was Turkey Hill German Chocolate Cake Ice Cream. It's better than Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie (yes, you read that right), and better than Edy's Double Fudge Brownie. I mean it was TO DIE FOR.

I bought a half gallon of this stuff exactly twice. Then it disappeared. When I asked someone in the frozen foods section about it, they said that it was a 'limited edition flavor'. What the hell is that? Why must they tease with something so incredible and then take it away? Not fair I tell you!

New PostMay 16 - Can You Say Tired?

New Post

Oh maaaaan. I am dead. The past four days have been killers. Work has been slow waiting for some jobs to 'break' so I've had lots of days 'off'. And now that work has picked up and getting back into the watching turbo-tot routine, well...it's almost like going back to school after summer vacation. Only then I was young, and now I am not.

The thing is that I don't stick with the same routine on my off days. I take time for me, and that means I stay up too late, then I sleep late, so getting back into the swing of things again leaves me wiped.

And now I am going to go and get my house all clean and tidy so that tomorrow and Sunday will be pretty much free. It's going to be raining so planned outside work is off.

New PostMay 13 - Part Deux

New Post

I've been here before... Two things I could not keep in the house when my son was little. Scotch tape. Batteries.

I said that maybe I'd be able to keep these things in the house by the time I reached fifty.

I am fifty. Fifty and three quarters.

Enter three and three quarters years old nephew who spends his days at my house while mommy works....

Two things I can't keep in the house...Scotch tape and batteries.

Maybe I will be able to keep an ample supply of tape and batteries in the house by the time I am seventy.

New PostMay 11 - Happy Mothers Day

New Post

Happy Mother's Day to all of the other moms out there. If you are lucky enough to still have your own mom alive, please hug her tight even if it is through the phone. You will miss her when she's gone. I know, because I do. Cherish the fact that you still have her.

You do not necessarily need to shower her with gifts. Maybe just tell her 'thank-you' for all she has given you, and all she has taught you. To know that you appreciate all she has done for you is the greatest gift of all.

New PostMay 9 - Brrrrrrr

New Post

C'mon already, it's May! Yesterday I dressed in shorts and today I have the heat on? The bushes along the back fence have just started to go green, there are still some trees that are just budding, and the flowers haven't yet figured out if they should come out and play. I can't recall the last time I saw such a late spring. It's MAY already! What is up with that?

New PostMay 8 - Stupid People Tricks

New Post

True news story... A New York woman takes her family to the Maritime AquariumExternal Link in Norwalk, Connecticut. Her child stepped in dog poop outside of the Maritime parking garage.

Woman is suing the town of Norwalk for 100.00 claiming her child's shoes and the entire outing was ruined because the kid stepped in poop. She wants to be re-imbursed 54.00 for the 'ruined' shoes plus the admission and parking fee.

Hellooooo? Have we not heard of finding a bathroom and some paper towels and cleaning the shoes off? Does she think that is the last time the kid will ever step in poop? Listen lady...carry some Wet Wipes in your purse. Oh...and never take your kid to a farm..those cow pies are slippery, horse turds are huge, and the fields are fertilized with moo-moo dung.

New PostMay 7 - Sick, Sick, Sick

New Post

What the hell is wrong with people? I followed a link on a local news site to the story, which I won't link to here since the links to news stories tend to go dead rather quickly.

It seems lots of people are busy banning the sale of 'Pot Suckers'. These would be lollipops that taste like hemp. WTF???? What is WRONG with people?! Sick, sick, sick I tell you!

Since the story will probably fade away quickly I'll let you do your own reading about this so you can be informed parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, whatever, via this Google search.External Link Just be prepared for a rise in blood pressure. Grrrrr. What sort of moron puts something like that on the market, and what sort of morons allows it to be sold in their establishment?

New PostMay 4 - Fonts

New Post

Choice of browser supported fonts.. It used to be that we had only a handful of browser supported fonts. What that means to those of you non-techy types is that you can't use just any old font on the web because the end user could end up seeing an un-readable mess if they do not have that font installed. The OS will take a guess and show what it thinks is the closest one to what you have specified.

The list however has been greatly expanded.External LinkI totally love 'Century Gothic', but it isn't supported and also doesn't render as smoothly in the browser as it does elsewhere, so I stick with what you are reading...'Verdana'. I'd love to use that font but I can't sacrifice 'readability' for my own whims.

Weeeeeeeehaaaaa!!! Stayed at my sister's last night. Attempted to take turbo-tot to the circus, but had to leave before it actually started. The poor kidlet spent the few minutes we were there with his hands over his ears. Could not take the loud echoing noise...did NOT want to stay.
